My role at Musicnotes as Web Developer consists of creating usable interfaces to our product and pages, creating new features from a marketing perspective and then developing those features into usable and valuable parts of the site.
Musicnotes has been featured in numerous publications, including Billboard, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly and USA Today.
MXTabs is a site recently acquired by Musicnotes. Once one of the most popular guitar tab sites on the internet, it was voluntarily taken down in the midst of the controversy revolving around the legality of tab sites.
Musicnotes will be relaunching the site after obtaining licenses from publishers to legally display the tabs online.
I was involved closely with the acquisition, and am currently managing the redesign and launch of the site.
Beat League is a site for Hip Hop producers and emcees. I first developed the site in 2002 as a possible tool for producers to post and sell their instrumentals to artists around the world. Since then, it’s developed into a free site where producers can upload their instrumentals to be reviewed - and possibly posted for emcees to download. Emcees have access to free beat downloads simply by registering with the site newsletter, and are notified via email every time a new beat is available.
I personally developed, designed, and maintain Beat League, and although it’s been taken off line several times, this time it’s up for the long haul as ad revenue supports the resources needed to keep it live.
GrandSendtral is a informational and training site for my SendOutCards business team. SendOutCards is a web product that allows entrepreneurs, business professionals, and individuals develop strong relationships by sending greeting cards.
From an online interface, you can design a card - even write in your own handwriting - apply a real stamp, and have it sent to someone’s mailbox. All this is accomplished for right around $1 per card. Amazing.
Scripts
IELLIOTT.COM’S GOOGLE 2 YAHOO SITEMAP CONVERTER
If you have a Google compliant site map being generated for your website (there are many free scripts that will do this, a great one for WordPress sites is by Arne Brachhold) - this script will generate a text version of your sitemap that is compliant with Yahoo. Simply paste the generated url into Yahoo submit, and you’re done. Alternatively, you can have this script run automatically using cron.
